Default Pet + flesh golem build

Hey people,

Profession:
R/N

Attributes:
beast and death mastery

Idea:
controling a pet and a flesh golem, while using the skills from beast mastery to enhance their combat abilities.

Would that work?

On Thursday I made a Flesh Golem build and it worked pretty well in random arenas. I wanted to try and add a pet but couldn't split the attributes enough to make beastmastery viable.

The Flesh Golem build is:

12 death
14 expertise
9 wilderness

Skills:
1)flesh golem
2)taste of death
3)throw dirt
4)distract shot
5)apply poison
6)troll unguent
7)whirling defense
8)res sig

Works well once you get your golem out. Use distract for res sigs mostly.
I found it fun anyway...

and you know what sucks. I play touch ranger ONE time in a whole week, and when I do, everyone is like "noob, learn to play. Try making original builds, blah blah blah". But when I've been trying to make new original builds all these weeks, do I get any praise? Of course not...*sigh* I hate people.

You might want to get Death Nova in there somewhere...

Look's solid, but I'd get rid of throw dirt before any others. Imma big fan of throwing dirt, but this build is more of a ranged build, and throw dirt, while useful when being thumped, is taking up a good spot to bring something else better suited for this type of build. IIIBNIII makes a good point, or maybe something else.

I would have thought this would have been a good R/N pet minion build:

Animate Flesh Golem (e)
Charm Animal
Comfort Animal
Death Nova
Blood Of The Master/Savage Pounce
Disrupting Lunge
Troll Unguent
Rez Sig

The object is to have two portable corpses with you at all times. You fire from range, your two minions attack at melee range. Death Nova on both Golem and Pet. Watch as you continuously create golem and raise pet over and over again.

the "over and over" part would be great, provided there are no necrotic opponents exploiting your corpses....Never rely on their being "your" corpses and "their" corpses...have a backup plan.

The idea is not precicely new...looking through old posts in this forum and others, the problem comes to energy magagment...Flesh Golem takes a pretty big bite out of a ranger's mana....best to switch this around to a N/R build...and beast mastery becomes a non-issue as your pet is expendable as a portable corpse....you lose slots for at least 2 skills doing this....making a less effective mm....sounds great at first glance, but I've not seen one without intrinsic weaknesses.

My advice: go pure beast-master...Enraged Lunge, Disrupting Lunge, and some condition adding like poisonous bite is surprisingly resiliant.

Lol, I can't believe you snipped me!

Agreed, Pet/Minion build is nothing new. Yes, its better with a N/R than a R/N.

All MMs suffer the same problems, explode or already used corpses. It doesn't matter if someone from your side or the opposition's side uses the corpse, just make sure that you use the corpses first.

Every build has its weakness, you just have to look hard enough to find them.

If i was gonna concentrate on a build that uses golem without excess minions, i woulda jus dropped the pet and went

N/Mo
16 DeathMagic
11 Smite
rest split up in blood and soul reaping

Flesh Golem {E}
Death Nova
Taste of Death
Balthazar Aura
Live Vicariously
Essense Bond
Dark Bond
Strength Of Honor
Rez Signet

Naturaly Just casting the buffs on the golem and smiting off of it

that does seem like a good build xaero but u can do that build with any Mo/r and make it still work pretty well cuz instead of using a flesh golem i would have a pet since no one would be paying attention to it and add more healing to it so i can keep myself alive

well my idea was basicly lvl 26-28 golem (depending on if the guy has +1 death magic 20%) vs lvl 20 pet, just though the levels would mean more damage in the long run

@ Xaero : wouldn't you have energy problems? 16 death 11 smite, you'll only have a few points let for soul reaping. you maintain 3 bonds (ok so one is essence bond..) so that's +1 energy gain and you use Balthazar's Aura which has a 25 energy cost. @_@? haven't tried this yet so idk
